BlindBox: A Wooden Game that Combines Puzzles and Memory

BlindBox was inspired by the desire to add a third dimension to traditional maze games. Özkan wanted to create a game that would challenge players to think strategically and adapt their moves in each turn. Unlike static 3D mazes, BlindBox allows players to change the path in every move, adding an element of surprise and excitement.

One of the key features that sets BlindBox apart from other games is its combination of puzzles and memory games. By using natural materials such as wood, BlindBox enhances sensory experiences like hearing and touching. Players need to remember or guess the positions of the marbles by the sounds they create when hitting the wooden drawers.

The gameplay of BlindBox is simple yet strategic. Players slide the drawers to align the holes in the middle of them, creating vertical paths for the marbles to fall down. The goal is to collect your own marbles before your opponent does. However, players must also consider the position of their opponent's marble when making moves, as they can inadvertently score for their opponent by causing their marble to fall out of the structure.

BlindBox can be produced using conventional production techniques, with basic geometrical shapes formed in wood, glass, and steel. The game is designed for two players and is suitable for children aged six and above.

BlindBox has received recognition for its innovative design. In 2014, it was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Toys, Games, and Hobby Products category. This award recognizes designs that are well-designed, practical, and innovative, meeting professional and industrial requirements.
